Bring your number with you.

Changing to a new number can be a big deal, so we've made it easy to bring any New Zealand mobile phone number with you when you join 2degrees. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Prepay customer or you get a bill, your number is your number and you can take it wherever you like.

It doesn't take long to change your number, first you fill out a simple form and then we’ll do the rest.  We’ll usually have it done for you in just a few hours. But first there are a few things that you need to know and have sorted before you can start the process. Please read the next bit carefully as it all gets a bit tricky if you don't give us exactly the right information when you fill in the form.

  • You'll need to have a 2degrees SIM card that you have used to make at least one call
  • You'll need to have registered online for Your 2degrees
  • You'll need to know the phone number that you want to bring with you (obviously!)
  • You need to know whether you are currently a Prepay customer or whether you get a bill each month on your old provider
  • If you want to sign-up to Pay Monthly you’ll need to sign up before you start to bring your number over.

Getting Started

To get started, you need to register for 'Your 2degrees'. Once you're logged in, choose 'Bring your number' and complete the on-screen form.

If you get a bill you might need to go back to your old mobile company once you have transferred your number and check that they've closed your account properly. 2degrees legally can't do that bit for you.

If you are a Vodafone Customer

  • If you get a bill each month you'll need to know your Account Number (it's printed on your bill)
  • If you are a Prepay customer you'll  need to know the SIM number that is printed on your Vodafone  SIM card - see opposite for more information
  • We need to know the SIM card number that  is physically printed on your existing Vodafone SIM card.   It has anything between 12 and 18 digits in it.
  • If you are moving a number from Vodafone you only need to give us 12 digits.  If your Vodafone SIM card only has 12 digits on it then you're sweet.  But if you've got 16 digits printed on your Vodafone SIM then you  should only give us the last 12 digits (that means ignoring the first 4 digits which should be 6401).

If you are a Telecom / TelstraClear Customer

  • If you get a bill each month you'll need to know your Account Number (it's printed on your bill)
  • If you are a Prepay customer and  you are on Telecom XT you'll need to know the SIM number that is printed on your XT SIM card. We need to know all 17 digits.,
  • If you have CDMA phone you'll need to know your ESN number. All Telecom handsets have a unique ESN number. You'll find it either behind or alongside the battery. Just slip the back off your mobile and it should be right there. Your handset's ESN number is an 11 digit number  (it will always be numbers, it won’t include any letters). If, when you take the back off your phone and you find you've only got an 8 character code then you'll need to contact Telecom and ask them for the corresponding 11 digit code  (although on some phone this number may contain extra digits.)
