Passwords & settings help for your 2degrees broadband services

Depending on when you joined 2degrees Broadband and what services you have, you may need one or more of these passwords. Avoid easy-to-guess passwords like your birthday, address, kids’ or pet names, and stay away from risky sequential numbers like 1111 or 1234. The trick is to ensure your password is unique but memorable.

How do I change my broadband WiFi password?

Got a 2degrees FRITZ!box modem on our Fibre, ADSL or VDSL connection?

Open an internet browser on your laptop or computer (If you can't connect to WiFi, you can hook up an ethernet cable between the modem and your computer). If you’re using a smartphone, ensure you have turned mobile data off before starting.

In the address bar of your browser, type fritz.box and press Enter.

You should see a login page. If not, type 192.168.178.1 or 169.254.1.1 into the browser. (If you have our FRITZ!box 7490, and this is your first time logging in, you’ll be asked to create a password)

Check the bottom of your modem for a 'FRITZ!Box password' unique to your device and enter this into the password field (unless you've changed it yourself with a new password previously).

Select ‘Wi-Fi’ and then select ‘Security’.

Ensure that WPA encryption (which is currently the highest encryption) is selected.

Under WPA mode, select WPA2.

In the Network Key Field, enter your new password (it needs to be at least 8 characters and have a mixture of upper and lower-case letters and numbers).

Click ‘Apply’ and you're done.

When connecting new devices to Wi-Fi, just enter the password you used during setup to get going. Any devices previously connected to the Wi-Fi will need to reconnect using the new Wi-Fi password (Network Key) you created.

Got your own modem?

Refer to the manufacturer's user manual for how to change your modem's Wi-Fi password.

You should be able to find instructions with a quick Google search of your modem's model name and number.

What Password do I use for my broadband?

Broadband Services Password

This is the password that is used with your username to get your modem connected to the internet. It will be the password you chose when you signed up for broadband with us unless you've requested for this to be changed (or 2degrees have changed it on your behalf).

If you have forgotten this you can change this by logging into your 2degrees Broadband account, got to the ‘My Profile’ section and choose ‘Change Broadband password’.

If you have a 2degrees modem, your password will already be entered in your modem settings.

If you have chosen to bring your own modem, you will need to enter your username, Broadband Services Password, and some other settings to get connected to the internet.

Your 2degrees (Broadband Home phone) Password

This password is used to log in to Your 2degrees Broadband account, allowing you to see your data usage, make payments, or make a number of other changes regarding your broadband account. You will also need to enter this password to change your Home Phone Plus password.

This will be the password you chose at signup, unless you have requested for this to be changed (or 2degrees have changed it on your behalf).

If you've forgotten this password, you can reset your password here.

Home Phone Plus Password

If you have a 2degrees modem, your password will already be entered in your modem settings, and 2degrees will not provide you with this password.

If you have chosen to Bring Your Own Modem, and added Home Phone Plus to your connection you will need this password to set up your Home Phone Plus number. You will be provided with a randomly-generated password when you sign up for BYOM with Home Phone Plus. If you wish to change this password, you can reset your password to another randomly-generated password from the 'Home Phone Plus' settings in 'Your 2degrees'.

You cannot set this password yourself.

Snap Email Password

If you joined 2degrees as an ex-Snap customer, you may have a historic email address still available to you.

If your email address is the same as your username, this password will be the same as your Broadband Services Password.

If you have other email address(es), these will have their own password(s). These email password(s) will have been chosen at the time the email address was created, unless you have requested for this to be changed (or 2degrees have changed it on your behalf).

If you wish to change an email address password, this can be done from the 'Email Options' settings in Your 2degrees. You won't be able to see this option unless you're an ex-Snap customer with a 2degrees-provided email address.

What are my SMTP settings for my Snap email?

Please note: Snap email is not provided to new 2degrees Broadband connections, and is only supported as a legacy product for ex-Snap customers.
