How to understand your broadband connection


How do I sign up?

You can sign up to our Business Broadband plans online or call us on 0800 022 249.

Do I need a new 2degrees modem?

No, you can continue to use your existing modem if you like. However if you want to use your own modem for our VDSL or Fibre services, it needs to be able to support VLAN tagging and PPPoE authentication. We can only provide limited support if you choose to supply your own device. If you want to use our Smart Voice service then the option to use your own modem is not available.

Alternatively, you can get a free 2degrees Modem when you sign up to a 24 month term (delivery and early termination charges apply), or pay $149 when you sign up to an open term (additional connection fees may apply to non-standard installations). Our modems are set up ready to go, so you just need to plug it in by following the instructions provided when the modem is couriered out to you.

Can I bring my existing landline number?

In many cases you are able to keep your existing landline number.  Let us know who your current provider is and your phone number and we’ll arrange to have it transferred to us.  In some cases we won’t be able to transfer your number, for example where the appropriate connection at your premise is not available.  We’ll discuss with you if this is the case.

If we do transfer your existing number over to us, once it’s connected with us you’ll just need to phone your old provider and cancel your account with them.


The wiring at your business premise can experience wear and tear and this may need to be repaired on some occasions. The monthly wiring maintenance add-on means that we can organise for a qualified technician to come and fix your wiring. In most scenarios, the cost of fixing your wiring will be covered if you have taken the wiring maintenance add-on.
