Texting with people overseas.

2degrees offers great rates to text your friends and family who live overseas. But there are a couple of things to know.

Getting your message through.

Connecting all the wires for texting to and from every overseas network is a tricky business – so unfortunately we can’t promise every text sent by you overseas, or to you from overseas, will make it through.

If you do find that you are having a consistent problem with a certain country or network we’d like to know about it.  Drop us a line at care@2degreesmobile.co.nz and we can look into it for you.  It will also help if your overseas friend does the same at their end and lets their network know that they want to link up to 2degrees in New Zealand.

And remember, you can still call overseas networks on 2degrees – it is just the finer details of texting that is taking a little more time to get ironed out from both ends.

Top 21 countries.

We've got the big tick from the operators on the list to the right in our top 21 countries, so generally speaking, you should be able to send and receive text messages from anyone you know on these networks. This is not an exhaustive list but we know that these networks are all linked up.

We're working with the other networks in these countries to get them to do their bit so texts make it here and back.  So if you can’t see your friend’s or family’s network on the list, rest assured, we’re onto it and doing our best to get their network to recognize your kiwi number.

Outside the top 21 countries.

There are over 600 mobile operators operating outside of the networks and countries on the right, and  just as we’re doing with our Top 21, we are working to make sure each of them have done their bit to ensure a seamless texting experience for you.
