Our customers are important to us and we want to help keep them safe while they are out and about.

SAFE Text is a free service from 2degrees that lets you send a record of  your plans for us to store.  Whether you are walking home after a night out or heading into the bush or out on the water, it’s a way to log your plans in case something unforeseen happens.  We can then give this information to the Police if needed.

How does SAFE work?

Whenever you want the peace of mind of someone knowing your plans, text us for free on 7233 (SAFE) and tell us where you’re going and what you’re doing.  We keep the text, and the time and the date, so that if anything happens to you we can pass this information onto the Police.

For example:
Hitching to Mt Maunganui from Hamilton, car reg SWX2589.
Walking home. Cathedral Sq to Addington. Colombo St, RT to Moorhouse, LT Montreal St & home Disraeli St.
Leaving Gulf Harbour for Kawau Island, expect to arrive 5pm today.

As a 2degrees customer, you can even use the SAFE service while travelling overseas. Texts sent from overseas cost 80 cents each and you’ll need to make sure that you have your 2degrees SIM card in your phone.

Save the SAFE number 7233 into your contacts list so that you’ll always have it handy for when you need it.

IMPORTANT

The SAFE service is not a monitored service. If you ever feel that you’re in danger, call 111 first before you text SAFE.  And if you’re going tramping or boating in the great outdoors make sure you tell someone else your plans, including when you expect to return.

Text messages you send to SAFE will be saved for 12 months.
SAFE stores text messages only – it doesn’t save picture or video messages, so make sure you text!
