You can pick up a 2degrees MicroSIM for an iPad at a 2degrees retailer or from our online store. They come with 100MB of national data loaded and ready to use.
To get the MicroSIM working in an iPad it is important that you follow these steps carefully:
- Remove the full size SIM from the packaging and insert it into a regular mobile phone (not your iPad)
- Activate the SIM by calling 200 and following the prompts. You need to make sure that you keep a record of the PIN that you set as you’ll need this whenever you call us about your account.
- With the SIM still in your mobile phone, register on Your 2degrees using your computer. Make sure you keep a record of the password that you setup as you will not be able to change this or reset it once you have started using your MicroSIM.
- Remove the SIM from your mobile, push out the MicroSIM and insert the MicroSIM into your iPad.
- Then Select ‘Settings’ from the Homepage.
- Now select ‘Cellular Data’.
- Then turn on Cellular Data and Data roaming.
- Then edit the Cellular Data APN, tap the ‘APN’ field and type ‘internet’.
- Then tap Cellular Data at the top to save the changes to the APN and return to the Cellular Data settings.
- Then turn off the iPad and restart.
- If you are still unable to connect check Wi-Fi is turned off.
You’ll be able to send texts by using the “Cellular Data” menu item in your Settings. Select “SIM Applications”, then “Send a text”. However, you can’t receive texts on an iPad, so you’ll miss out on your 2degrees notifications such as when your credit has run low or when your Data Pack has expired.
