Motorola Defy+

The Motorola Defy + is one tough Smartphone and it is exclusive to 2degrees. You can buy this phone from our online store.

Below is some important information to help you set up your handset correctly so you can start using it.

Activating your SIM card

When you first put a SIM card into your Motorola Defy+ the SIM card must already be active.

If you are a PrePay customer you will need to activate your SIM card in another mobile phone before putting it into your Motorola Defy+. You will need to top-up some credit and ideally purchase a National Data Pack.

If you are Pay Monthly customer your SIM card will already be active.

Once you have an active SIM card you can proceed with setting up the Motoblur service.

Setting up Motoblur™

The Motorola Defy™+ includes the Motoblur™ software which has a number of powerful features to help you manage your handset - for details on what it can do visit Motorola’s website . When you first turn on your handset you will be required to set up the Motoblur service and to do this you need an active internet connection in one of the following ways:

  1. 2degrees Mobile Broadband Zone coverage – this is 2degrees fastest mobile data service but it isn’t available everywhere. Check if you are in coverage.
  2. An available WiFi connection which you will configure on your handset during set-up of the MotoBlur service.
  3. As long as you have an active internet connection you can follow the on-screen prompts and set-up the Motoblur service.

Enabling Mobile Data use anywhere in NZ

Once you have configured the Motoblur service you need to enable Data Roaming on your handset so that you can access the internet anywhere in New Zealand using 2degrees National Data. Remember that 2degrees data usage anywhere in New Zealand is included in PrePay national data packs and the data bundle included with all Pay Monthly plans.

To enable Data Roaming on your Defy+ follow these steps:

  1. Access the device ‘Settings’ area.
  2. Select ‘Battery and data manager’.
  3. Select ‘Data delivery’.
  4. Select the check box ‘Data roaming’ so that a white tick inside a green box appears.
  5. You will get an “Attention” message – click on ‘OK’.

Note that if you travel overseas your handset will now also access the internet and incur data roaming charges. If you don’t want this to happen then follow the steps above and uncheck the ‘Data roaming’ box.
